Chet Faker - Gold

In both video and song, Chet Faker excels at sultry simplicity. His smokey but fragile voice over the clapping, the serpentine silhouettes of roller girls.

The song is smooth, despite Faker’s Australian roots, he’s obviously inspired by Motown, Bon Iver and R&B. The girls’ (Appleusa McGlynn, April Corley, Candice Heiden) choreography a deliciously and buttery accompaniment to this feel good croon.

Gold is entrancing and perfect for late night listening.

p.s. if Faker looks or sounds familiar to you, it might be because his cover of No Diggity went viral awhile back.

Thanks to invincibeard for introducing me to this awesome track.

- Cockfighting. I had to break up the ring, naturally. Barbaric practice.
- So you decided to bring one of the chickens home?
- Well, there are two combatants in a cock fight. I could have called animal control. But it occurred to me, we have an opportunity. There’s some debate as to whether these creatures, once perverted by their keepers, can be weaned from their aggressive tendencies. The process, as it stands now, is tedious, highly imperfect - I believe it can be improved upon.
